DISC TWO: THE INERTIA VARIATIONS (album length approx. 45 mins)
(poetry / soundscapes / spoken word)
The Inertia Variations is a poem by John Tottenham which is, in large part, the inspiration for this project as well as a documentary of the same name released in 2017. This disc features Matt Johnson reciting the poem – which is divided into seven chapters of seven verses and interspersed with original music and soundscapes – some of which feature in the documentary film. There are 71 distinct tracks on this album.
DISC THREE: MIDNIGHT TO MIDNIGHT (album length approx. 54 mins)
(electronic scores / political commentaries / broadcasts)
Part of the aforementioned documentary featured a 12-hour long political broadcast on UK General Election day. This album takes fragments of the political interviews from that broadcast as well as experimental electronic music created especially for the documentary and accompanying exhibitions.
